To celebrate ‘International Earth Day’, AMOR, participated at ‘Operation Caco’ on April 18, 2015 along the beaches of Maputo. The motto of the operation was ‘Let’s remove the glass from the beaches’ and was an initiative to prevent accidents and educate citizens. Over the years the broken glass has been dumped in the dunes and the sand at one of the main tourist destinations of the country.
The organization of this activity had the support of: ‘Instituto Superior Monitor’, Cooperative Environmental Education Ntumbuluku, Mozambican Association of Recycling (AMOR), Association of Environment, Conservation and Education of Mozambique, Começa Com Um Pequeno Passo, Limpa Moçambique, ‘Pró Ambiente’ of the Faculty of Environment of the University Eduardo Mondlane, Maputo City Radio, Independent Television of Mozambique – TIM, the Natural History Museum, the Association of Capoeira ‘Abaete’, and the PRAIAMAP movement – Friends of the Maputo Beach, in partnership with the Municipality of Maputo.
