AMOR, with the support of General Electric, organized on the 15th of October 2016 a session of cleaning on 200 metres of the beach in front of Super Marés at Costa de sol.

General Electric is a firm that, in Mozambique, focuses on the businesses development and try to built the future of the country through significant investments in various industries, including Oil and Gas, Transports, and Energy management

During this cleaning activity, we also organized different workshops about recyclable materials that cannot be bought in the actual recycling market of Mozambique. We used for example Tetra Pack packaging to make wallets, small plastics PET bottles to produce a “go and come” toys, big PET bottles to make decorative boxes and news paper to create table mats. We also exposed the diversity of the handicrafts courses productions. Moreover, organized a session on environmental education by opening a conversation supported by different pedagogical images, illustrating the consequences of waste pollution. To cloture this event, all the participants (AMOR and General Electric Staffs, 40 children) beneficiated of a 30 minutes dynamic zumba class provided by the gyms club In Motion & Igym

General Electric also organized a lottery  to win a gift basket. The money collected with the sell of the tickets will be used to support the children of the Oncology department of the Central Hospital in Maputo.

We are really greatful for all the participants contribution:

–          Around 40 students involved in the environmental clubs of the primary school Unidade 29, and their 4 teachers, clubs that were created during a partnership with the AVSI foundation at the beginning of this year.

–          The General Electric staff,

–          The staff of the two gym clubs In Motion and Igym

–          The staff of AMOR

–          As well as the users of the beach and the citizens interested by the environmental preservation.
