The Mozambican Association of Recycling in partnership with AVSI, Maputo City Municipal Council and the Micro company Urbe Clean (Primary Collection Company) are implementing a Project of Selective Collection and Environmental Education in the neighborhood George Dimitrov (Benfica). For the implementation of the project was placed in the Primary School Unit 29 a scholar ecopoint/  recycling center that is a point of collection of recyclable waste (paper, plastic, and metal), and with the support of the UrbeLimpa in the process of integrated management of solid waste (including the recycling component) it is done the collection of recyclable. To encourage the participation of all members of the school community, AMOR will give a green point for each kg of recyclable material that is heavy, where the sum of green points will be reverted in favour of the school. This is an educational project that integrates practice and awareness of civil society on issues related to solid waste and its consequences to the environment. This project comes as a result of the positive impact of the projects  Recycle and Win developed in 10 schools in Maputo and in 4 schools in the town of Vilanculos which has been carried out since the year 2014 and the project of Environment and Citizenship, which was recently launched in Beira where 10 schools are involved and the need to expand this type of activity which has the ultimate goal to raise the environmental awareness of citizens with particular focus on waste management. One of the great innovations of this project, it is the difference is the incorporation in the project urbe Clean, a micro primary collection of waste company that has a responsibility to make the management of recyclable waste and collected at school. In the School was installed a scholar Ecopoint and created an Environmental Club in the Primary School Unit 29 responsible for boosting the activities of the club within the school . This amount will be transferred in the school’s bank account each quarter. The idea is that the private sector and the community can also contribute to the improvement of the educational conditions of the school district, through donations from their separated recyclable waste. This will allow the awareness of all residents of the neighborhood George Dimitrov.
