Last Saturday, June 5th, events related to the World Environment Day took place in the city of Beira, where AMOR – Mozambican Recycling Association, together with its partners and volunteers, developed several activities that promote the well-being of the environment. .
Under the motto “restoration of ecosystems”, in order to raise awareness among residents and organizations involved, about the duty to care for and protect the environment, a tree planting activity was carried out, where around 150 seedlings of Acacias were planted in the entrance of the Monument in the neighbourhood of Macurungo – Manganhe.
Also, cleaning days were carried out on the beaches of Estoril and Veleiros (from Canhão to Miramar) where more than 1 ton of Waste was collected. On Veleiros beach, participants enjoyed the exhibition of handicraft products (recyclable) produced by students from AMOR partner schools, within the scope of the Citizens Friends of Environment project, financed by the European Union.
In a stable and orderly environment, the event was attended by 316 participants divided into the three locations of the activities, which took place without a hitch, respecting the current prevention measures provided to COVID-19.
