Within the scope of the project “Strengthening, Training and Organization of Recyclable Dealers in Micro-entrepreneurs in Maputo City”, implemented by AMOR – Mozambican Recycling Association and financed by Monde par la Main / Give a Hand, the monitoring of activities carried out by recyclable collectors throughout the month of October.
One of the challenges that the project aims to overcome is to empower women and ensure that recycling is an activity recognized and valued by society. There are about 100 women who benefit from the project, and the results of this work reveal an advance as illustrated below by the data on waste collection:
PET – 10,8455 Tons; PP – 4,7225 Tons; LDP – 9,572 Tons; HDP – 5,656 Tons; K3 – 3.8845 Tons; UBC – 1,9547 Tons; Glass – 23,567 bottles of bottles; Iron – 456 kg.
Adding the sales of all waste pickers throughout the month of October, it was possible to have a total value of 127 904.00 MZN, corresponding to 2,030 USD.
