Treinamento para microemprendedoras da reciclagem dA CIDADE DE MAPUTOAs part of the project Strengthening, training and organizing recyclable sellers in micro-entrepreneurs, implemented by the Mozambican Recycling Association (AMOR) together with its partner Give a Hand (Canadian NGO), 14 Informal Waste Pickers are being trained in May on matters of Management of Micro-entrepreneurs of Purchase and Sale of Recyclable Material in the City of Maputo.

In a first phase, 103 women were identified, where they received brief training on the management of recyclable waste.

This project, which has been implemented since November 2020, aims to improve the knowledge that waste pickers have in relation to waste management with the following contents: Recycling in the country; Economic model of its activity and its main advantages; recycling value chain in Mozambique; updated list of companies that buy recyclables in the country; hygiene, health and safety at work.

Design sem nomeTo improve working conditions and not put health at risk, a kit was delivered to each waste picker preceded by instructions for use and conservation (boots, gloves, scale, whistle, masks, hats and reflective safety vests) and one forms with the contents of the training.

It should be noted that the recycling sector has played a fundamental role for the sustainable development of the country and also for the preservation of the environment. Today recycling is seen as an economically, socially and environmentally viable measure to minimize poverty rates in the country, as this activity can contribute to the generation of work and income for many families.
